Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Junior Application Security Engineer to join the Information Security team in the United States. You will implement and maintain security testing tools across the software development lifecycle, integrate them into CI/CD pipelines, and support development teams by addressing false positives and guiding remediation.

You will demonstrate proficiency across security, software design, and cloud environments while promoting secure coding practices and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years' experience; or Master's Degree and 4 years' experience
• Experience in application security and software development
• Experience implementing, administering, and supporting application security tooling such as SAST/DAST/IAST/SCA
• Knowledge of secure coding practices across multiple programming languages (esp. Java, Node.js)
• Experience integrating security testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of application security principles with OWASP Top 10, CWE, etc.
• Experience supporting developers with assessing and mitigating findings
• Ability to communicate technical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to function as a principal engineer with innovative problem solving and new technologies
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills
• Experience coaching and supporting junior engineers

Responsibilities

• Implementing and maintaining AST tools (SAST, DAST, IAST, SCA) to identify code and dependency vulnerabilities
• Implementing and maintaining ASPM tools to centralize findings and integrate into development
• First-line user support for false positives and remediation guidance
• Integrating security tooling with CI/CD pipelines
• Developing detailed reports on security findings and remediation efforts
• Demonstrating proficiency across technologies related to application security, software design, and cloud environments
• Communicating security risks and promoting secure development practices
• Triaging vulnerabilities and risks across development environments and business units
