Job summary

Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is seeking an entry-level accountant reporting to the Assistant Controller Accounting & Finance. The role involves weekly bank deposits, reconciliations, monthly closing, and maintaining financial records for MPTN and related enterprises.

The ideal candidate has an Associate degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 1 year in a financial environment; ERP experience (Oracle) is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required, with a focus in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a financial environment is a plus.
• Experience with large ERP systems (Oracle) is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, such as Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Complete weekly bank deposits and related journal entries.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and related journal entries.
• Provide back-up assistance with Treasury wires, expense reports, cash advances, and AMEX transactions.
• Assist with the monthly financial closing, prepare internal and external financial reports, and maintain financial records.
• Assist with fixed asset accounting and financial transactions for MPTN and related enterprises.
• Assist/backup to multiple departments in financial transactions and daily audits.
• Ensure adherence to weekly/monthly closing schedules and tax returns preparation.
• Provide clear, concise, timely oral and written communications and assist with accounting policy guidance.
• Initiate recommendations for process improvements and participate in policy development.
