Job summary

Smartaira is seeking a Junior Accountant to prepare financial reports covering assets, liabilities, and profitability, while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive information. You will maintain the general ledger, close monthly books, generate billing and shipping documents, and interact with customers to verify account details.

This role supports auditors and coordinates with the accounting software to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cost accounting and related duties in the accounting department.
• Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes monthly books.
• Creates itemized statements, bills, invoices, and other billing documents.
• Records amounts due for items purchased or services rendered.
• Performs general bookkeeping and maintains records and supporting documents.
• Generates shipping labels and billing documents.
• Contacts customers to verify and update account information.
• Ensures billing and receivables are processed timely.
• Addresses discrepancies in accounts or billings.
• Negotiates payment plans as liaison between clients and clerks.
• References overdue accounts to collections.
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly and handles deposits inquiries.
• Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
• Verifies payment of invoices and ensures correct charging.
• Assists outside auditors with necessary documents.
• Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local agencies.
• Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software.
