Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division is seeking an Accountant I to perform entry level professional accounting duties with concentration in General Accounting, Risk Management/Employee Benefits and Budget & Plant. The role involves compiling financial reports, preparing journal entries, and maintaining ledger and pension payroll data.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 0–2 years of accounting experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in accounting is required.
• A valid driver's license from state of residence is required.

Responsibilities

• Compile/verify figures for financial, statistical and budget reports such as balance sheets, income statements, statistical, annual, budget and pension reports.
• Prepare journal entries for recording information to general ledger.
• Assist in reconciling general ledger/budget accounts to detail records; make necessary correcting entries.
• Prepare portions of TVA monthly financial report, monthly reports of TVA insulation loan accounts, annual reports for TVA, financial information for AGA, pension computations and actuary reports.
• Assist in the development/implementation of less complex procedures for new accounting and/or budgeting procedures.
• Maintain daily accounting detail information for entry to the general ledger and budget; maintain/control information related to pension payroll.
