Job summary

Grand Valley State University is seeking an entry-level accounting professional to support the Financial Reporting team. You will process department transfers, prepare journal entries, and ensure accurate financial records.

The role covers payroll adjustments, monthly/quarterly reporting, and general fund accounting with opportunities to coordinate charge-back activities and improve worktag accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field requested for the role.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Attention to detail and ability to reconcile accounts required.
• Proficiency with Excel and MS Office is needed.

Responsibilities

• Process department transfer requests, review for proper authorization and enter journal entries.
• Prepare and process payroll accounting adjustments with correct worktags.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting for accuracy and timely distribution.
• Lead general fund accounting activities and ensure policy compliance.
• Coordinate monthly charge-back activities and act as primary accounting contact.
• Research and correct worktags to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Monitor prepaid expenses and reconcile balances for timely recognition.
• Support bank desk functions including cash receipt processing.
• Perform other duties as required by leadership.
