Qualifications

Responsibilities

Summary

Somerset County Public Schools is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Judy Center Coordinator. The Judy Center is a grant funded program housed at Princess Anne Elementary School and designed to provide high quality early education for children birth to five while providing comprehensive family support services for families. The Judy Center Coordinator will work with a team, consisting of a Judy Center Supervisor, Judy Center Family Service Specialist, school, and community members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Work with a diverse population of families, community partners and SCPS staff.
  • With the support of the JC Supervisor, develop and support the Judy Center Steering Committee and coordinate the MOUS with Judy Center partners.
  • Work with the supervisor to create Judy Center project goals and the Judy Center Grant
  • Responsible for all state, annual, mid-year, end of year and monthly reports for the Judy Center at Princess Anne Elementary.
  • Responsible for the implementation of quality services for the Judy Center and ensuring adherence to the Judy Center Components, RBA and Judy Center standards and philosophy.
  • Monitor the program documentation and keep accurate records.
  • Work with the Judy Center Supervisor to provide oversight over Judy Center staff at the school. Provide oversight to the Judy Center Family Service Specialist, and verify data reported by the FSS.
  • Meet with the FSS weekly/monthly to discuss data and assists in setting goals and data collection when needed.
  • Attend a Countywide Judy Center staff meeting at least once a month to help coordinate calendars and discuss progress towards grant goals.
  • Promote the Judy Center in the community and attends local meetings and events. This includes some weekend and evening events.
  • Work with the Family Service Specialist, oversee the structure of service coordination meetings (but not be required to attend these meetings once they have been firmly established).
  • Work to increase the number of childcare partners. Work to engage Head Start and provide professional learning to Head Start and other partners.
  • Coordinate family engagement with the school and community partners and lead these family engagement activities (attend evening and weekend events as needed).
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all records and communications regarding parents and children.
  • Attend and participate in applicable Federal, State and local collaboration activities which includes trainings, meetings, grant writing and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee and conducts parent training.
  • Oversee food pantry and works with the FSS on food distribution. Complete paperwork necessary for the Food Pantry (with the FSS).
  • Oversee and update the Judy Center Magazine, newsletter, flyers and all social media.
  • Work with the Supervisor to balance the Judy Center budget. The supervisor will sign off on all expenditures but the JC Coordinator will assist in creating spending plans, putting expenditures into ledgers and will meet with the supervisor and administrative assistant monthly to balance the ledgers .
  • Other related duties as assigned.

III. Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Social Work or Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • At least five years of experience working with children (birth through kindergarten) and families.
  • Experience with supervision or administration.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

License/ Certification not required.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and reports. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply concepts of basic arithmetic.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software (Excels) and Word Processing software.
