Job summary

Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas is seeking a Judicial Law Clerk to begin immediately. The successful candidate will assist the Judge by researching legal issues, drafting opinions, orders, and other documents, and helping with case management.

Responsibilities include reviewing filings, tracking cases, communicating with attorneys, and maintaining court research resources. Requirements include law school degree, PA Bar eligibility, and strong organizational skills; a commitment to accuracy

Qualifications

• Must be a law school graduate.
• Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania or eligible to sit for the Pennsylvania Bar exam.
• Satisfactory drug test and criminal background check required.
• Must possess strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and coordinate work.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Research and assist the Judge in researching legal issues before the court.
• Draft opinions, orders and other legal documents for the Judge’s review.
• Review complaints, answers, petitions and other documents filed with the court.
• Actively track cases pending decision and update relevant parties.
• Communicate with attorneys concerning issues before the court.
• Maintain the court’s computer-based research software.
• Assist general public with research issues in the Law Library.
• Act as Mental Health Review Officer.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Judge or Court Administration.
