Job summary

FlightSafety International is seeking a JSE Mission Modeler to design, build, and execute military mission scenarios for large‑force virtual training. You will author scenarios using Lua scripting, integrate blue air and constructive forces, and ensure compatibility with JSE standards across MLS environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, operations research, computer science, or a closely related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years in military mission scenario development, constructive simulation, or distributed synthetic environments in a DoD context.
• Hands-on experience with military scenario authoring tools and constructive simulation frameworks (AFSIM, JSAF, EADSIM, OneSAF, NGTS or equivalent).
• Familiarity with distributed simulation protocols including HLA, DIS, or TENA and linking to a networked synthetic environment.
• Understanding of JSE architecture, GRID services, and the JPP structure (behavior files, Lua scripting, entity state messages).
• Operational knowledge of USAF or USN TTPs for tactically credible training scenarios.
• Experience supporting LFEs or virtual training events with 50+ players in LVC.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills; experience producing scenario documentation and AARs.
• Active Secret clearance; ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mission scenarios for large‑force virtual training exercises within the JSE battlespace.
• Author and maintain scenario behavior files, Lua scripts, configurations, and control logic per JPP standards.
• Coordinate with JSE GRID services to ensure fidelity of entities, sensors, weapons, and LOS.
• Translate operational training requirements with Government SMEs into executable synthetic environments.
• Support scenario validation events at JSE facilities and debrief analyses.
• Develop and maintain scenario libraries across profiles and MLS operations; document RVR activities.
• Travel to Government test events, facilities, and training sites throughout the year.
