Indian River Central School District seeks a JROTC Army Instructor/AI at Indian River High School to support leadership, citizenship, and core skills development. The AI will work under the principal and assist in teaching the JROTC curriculum.

The position requires an Army officer or NCO with prior service, an Associates degree, and US Army Cadet Command certification. Salary is based on rank, education, and district funding.

Qualifications

• An Army officer (W-1 to W-5, O-3 to O-6) who is separated or retired with an honorable discharge within the past 5 years with at least 8 years of service.
• Officers and NCOs who are active participating members of the selected reserve may serve as instructors.
• Candidates must possess at least an Associates degree and must be certified by US Army Cadet Command.
• Teacher certification is not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the JROTC unit according to Army and school rules, regulations, and policies.
• Maintain good relations with students, faculty, school administration, and the school community.
• Conduct public relations efforts in schools and community groups to promote JROTC.
• Enroll students in JROTC.
• Teach the Army-designed JROTC curriculum with the Senior Army Instructor.
• Execute a robust after-school, integrated, co-curricular activity program.
• Develop and implement the annual master training schedule.
• Maintain contact with parents of cadets with academic or behavioral issues.
• Ensure JROTC unit areas are neat and orderly.
• Manage program-connected instructional materials and supplies including procurement, inventory, and maintenance.
• Maintain accountability of government equipment.
