Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator to support students across preschool through high school in a school setting. You will assist with general education and special needs assignments under the direction of the School Principal, Teacher, or Student Services Director.

Experience with diverse learners, including language acquisition, is expected. Must be able to lift 35–50 lbs and use general office equipment. RBT training or braillist experience is a plus; Spanish bilingualism is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with students from preschool to high school in a school setting.
• Experience with special needs students including physical/mental disabilities.
• Ability to lift 35–50 lbs and safely move students.
• RBT certification preferred; training may be required.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.

• Establish and maintain a positive, professional relationship with students, staff, volunteers, and community members, maintaining confidentiality.

Job description

Start Date: October 1, 2026

Hours/Schedule: 5 Days per Week / 6.0 Hours per Day

Contract/Salary: 2026-27 PSE Salary Schedule - Paraeducator ($26.96), SEBB insurance, Washington DRS, paid days off (12 sick leave days and 2 personal days)

General Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Experience and knowledge working with students of all ages from preschool to high school in a school setting
• Experience and knowledge working with special needs students to include but not limited to, physical and/or mental disabilities ranging from low incidence to severe
• Experience and knowledge of supporting the learning process for students who need additional support in academic subjects
• Experience and knowledge of supporting language acquisition for students who need additional support in academic subjects
• Adequate physical strength must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs up to 50lbs
• Knowledge and experience working with computers, general office equipment, and general office operations
• Demonstrated ability to safely manually handle/move/lift or transport students if necessary in a controlled or uncontrolled environment
• RBT certification preferred; RBT training and certification may be required
• Experience as braillist preferred; braillist training and certification may be required
• Bilingual Spanish preferred
