Job summary

Prysmian Group in Las Vegas is seeking a Junior Process Technician to set up and operate molding and related equipment according to production schedules, ensuring quality parts are produced safely and efficiently. You will perform mold changes, start/stop molding machines, operate forklifts, and record daily process data while supporting maintenance and improvements.

Must have 3+ years in molding plastics and be able to lift up to 50 lb.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in molding plastics processing and maintenance.
  • Experience in machine start-up and shutdown.
  • Able to lift to 30/50 pounds.
  • Basic data entry.
  • Background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Pass work physical and lift test.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • English speaking, reading and writing.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate molding, finishing, and assembly equipment.
  • Perform mold changes and machine adjustments.
  • Start up and shut down molding machines.
  • Operate forklift to move molds.
  • Record daily process data to monitor machine running conditions.
  • Perform minor repairs and change inserts.
  • Monitor high-volume molding machines and production quantities.
  • Identify and address equipment, process, or safety issues.
  • Suggest process improvements to engineering.
  • Inspect machines hourly to ensure quality parts and reduce scrap.
  • Maintain 5S housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Report shift performance metrics.
  • Communicate with incoming team members on shift performance.
  • Address workplace hazards promptly.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Junior Process Technician is directly responsible for the setup and the correct processing of all machines and equipment to ensure to their production schedule and productivity. Also responsible for preventative maintenance and supporting direct manufacturing activities to ensure that quality parts are always produced effectively and safely.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Set up and operate a variety of material handling, molding, finishing, and assembly equipment. Examples: mold setup or cutter adjustments
  • Responsible for mold change and machine adjustments
  • Start up and shut down the molding machines
  • Operate forklift to do mold changes
  • Use forklift to move and organize molds
  • Responsible for filling out the daily process records necessary to control and maintain machine running conditions
  • Conduct minor repairs and change inserts, as necessary
  • Responsible for operating, repairing, and maintaining high-volume molding machines
  • Monitor production quantities for the color change, mold change, and product completions
  • Execute all activities within the scope of approved procedures and set priorities necessary to accomplish pre-determined goals based on production needs
  • Monitor scrap being produced from process and effect changes needed to eliminate the root cause of waste
  • Maintain acceptable level of housekeeping by 5S standards in the assigned work area
  • Promote, attain, and maintain safety, quality, and environmental awareness and requirements in the area of responsibility
  • Identify and resolve issues in the assigned working area related to equipment, machines, personnel, process, training, and materials that conflict with obtaining maximum production quality and efficiencies
  • Provide recommendations to engineering about process improvement opportunities for processes, practices, equipment, performance, and efficiency of operations
  • Inspect machines hourly in the assigned working area to ensure production of good quality parts to prevent mass production of defective or unacceptable parts (scrap)
  • Accurately report daily shift performances, including but not limited to safety, quality, labor hours, production tickets, scrap, and first part approvals
  • Must be able to troubleshoot support equipment (grinders, blenders, hopper loaders, and chillers)
  • Inform the Production Lead, where necessary, of all events affecting the production flow
  • Communicate with on-coming team members concerning shift performance and scrap
  • Take action to promptly correct or remove all workplace hazards
  • Duties as assigned by management
ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules
  • Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • ISO sections about the position
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of three 3 + years of related molding plastics processing and maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience in machine start-up and shutdown. Knowledge of essential machine functions
  • Able to lift to 30 / 50 pounds
  • Basic data entry.
  • Submit to a background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Pass work physical and lift test
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to speak, read/comprehend, and write in English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing, sitting, and walking (up to continuously); bend/stoop, twist neck and torso (frequently); reach, hold, grasp, push, pull, lift/carry raw material, finished product, tools, and machinery up to 30 / 50 pounds (frequently); use seeing, hearing, and speaking.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal temperatures.
