Job summary

Pillar Innovations, LLC is seeking a Jr. Industrial Programmer to join our Morgantown team. You will work with senior staff to deliver turnkey automation solutions, focusing on PLC programming, HMI development, and software installations with minimal electrical work.

You will represent Pillar Innovations in the field and help maintain strong client relationships. The role reports to the Automation Manager and is based in Morgantown, WV.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in process control and automation is preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, testing, and supporting controls systems including pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, networks, touchscreens, and robotic integration under supervision.
• Creating software designs for manufacturing automation and safety systems under supervision.
• Creating accurate BOMs and defining equipment/parts from suppliers.
• Commissioning customized products and systems onsite and at customer facilities.

Position Overview

As a Jr. Industrial Programmer, the general role is to work with Sr. Level personnel to provide turnkey automated solutions specializing in PLC Programming, Human Machine Interface (HMI) Development, and Software installations, with minimal electrical work. This position is expected to perform difficult troubleshooting for customers with direction from Sr. and lead level personnel.

This individual will have the ability to represent Pillar Innovations out in the field and will be responsible for maintaining good relations with current and prospective customers. The Jr. Industrial Programmer will report to the Automation Manager and will work primarily out of the Morgantown location.

What You'll Do

• Designing, developing, testing, and supporting controls systems which include pneumatics, servos, VFD's, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons and robotic integration under Sr. Level supervision
• Creating software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems under Sr. Level supervision
• Creating accurate BOMs (Bill of Materials)
• Defining equipment and parts from external suppliers
• Architecting programs that are simple to test, well documented and versatile
• Commissioning customized products and systems onsite and at customer facilities
• Creating customer documentation such as user manuals and programming diagrams
• Responding to phone calls and texts after hours and on weekends within a timelymanner
• Facilitating and supporting manufacturing processes and control systems within operations

What You'll Bring

• Valid driver's license required
• BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 2 years' experience in process control and automation is preferred
• Proficient with MS Office productivity software
• Proficient with reading and using AutoCAD Electrical is preferred
• Strong working knowledge with Allen Bradley PLCs and RSLogix 5000,500 is preferred
• HMI / OIT Development experience with Rockwell and/or Wonderware is preferred
• Able to efficiently plan work tasks to meet company goals
• Critical thinking with good problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments
• Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment
• Good understanding of mechanical principals
• Able to travel up to 40% at times
• Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs including possible emergency call-out, extended hours and some out-of-town and overnight work
• Willing to participate in Pillar Innovation's Drug and Alcohol policy, which includes preemployment, random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing asrequested

Working Conditions

• Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted
• Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
• Required to wear safety equipment: as per OSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.
