Pillar Innovations, LLC in Morgantown, KY is seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer to deliver turnkey automation solutions, programming PLCs, and developing HMIs with minimal electrical work. You will troubleshoot and support commissioning across customer sites, creating documentation and ensuring safety and quality in every installation.

Travel 25-50% to project sites is required; strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in process control and automation.
• Experience reading/creating CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and onsite troubleshooting for customers.
• Support commissioning efforts for new projects onsite at customer facilities.
• Resolve operational problems related to current systems or new projects.
• Ensure safety objectives are observed on all work.
• Support manufacture, build and validation of systems including pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, networks, touchscreens, and robotic integration.
• Create customer documentation such as user manuals, diagrams, and electrical drawings.
• Maintain records according to quality standards and customer requirements.
• Document amendments when systems are modified per customer requests.

Position Overview

As an Industrial Controls Engineer, the general role is to provide turn-key automated solutions specializing in PLC Programming, Human Machine Interface (HMI) Development, Software installations, with minimal electrical work. This position is expected to complete difficult troubleshooting for customers with some direction from Sr. and lead level personnel.

The Industrial Programmer will report to the Automation Manager and will work primarily out of the Morgantown location.

What You'll Do

• Provide technical support and onsite troubleshooting and repair for customers
• Support commissioning efforts for new projects and systems onsite at customer facilities
• Resolve operational problems related to current systems or new projects
• Ensure all relevant safety objectives are observed for all work completed
• Support manufacture, build and validation of systems which include pneumatics, servos, VFD's, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons and robotic integration
• Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings
• Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standards and customer requirements
• Modifies systems upon customer's request and documents the amendments accordingly

What You'll Bring

• Valid driver's license
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3+ years of experience in process control and automation
• Familiar with reading and creating CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
• Strong working knowledge with Allen Bradley PLCs and RSLogix 5000,500
• Working experience and knowledge with HMI / OIT Development using Rockwell and/or Wonderware software platforms
• Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals
• Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments
• Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment
• Ability to balance multiple projects
• Working knowledge of MS Office productivity software
• Good understanding of mechanical principals is a plus
• Preferred if candidate has 80-hour underground certification within the first 6 months of employment
• Travel as required (25-50% at times) to support projects. Travel time is paid.
• Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs to include possible work involving emergency call-out, extended hours and some out-of-town and overnight work
• Willingness to undergo a thorough background and drug screening process
