Job summary

Pillar Innovations is seeking an Industrial Programmer to design and implement turnkey automation solutions for PLCs, HMIs, and software installations at Morgantown, WV. You will troubleshoot complex systems and support projects under senior staff.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or CS, 3+ years in process control, experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Rockwell/Wonderware; travel 25-50%, and a willingness to pass drug screening.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, CS or equivalent.
  • 3+ years in process control and automation.
  • Experience with CAD drawings and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs and RSLogix 5000/500.
  • HMI/OIT development using Rockwell or Wonderware.
  • Willingness to travel 25–50% and pass screening.

As an Industrial Programmer, the general role is to provide turn-key automated solutions specializing in PLC Programming, Human Machine Interface (HMI) Development, Software installations, with minimal electrical work. This position is expected to complete difficult troubleshooting for customers with some direction from Sr. and lead level personnel.

The Industrial Programmer will report to the Automation Manager and will work primarily out of the Morgantown location.

  • Provide technical support and onsite troubleshooting and repair for customers
  • Support commissioning efforts for new projects and systems onsite at customer facilities
  • Resolve operational problems related to current systems or new projects
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives are observed for all work completed
  • Support manufacture, build and validation of systems which include pneumatics, servos, VFD’s, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons and robotic integration
  • Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings
  • Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standards and customer requirements
  • Modifies systems upon customer’s request and documents the amendments accordingly
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in process control and automation
  • Familiar with reading and creating CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Strong working knowledge with Allen Bradley PLCs and RSLogix 5000,500
  • Working experience and knowledge with HMI / OIT Development using Rockwell and/or Wonderware software platforms
  • Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments
  • Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment
  • Ability to balance multiple projects
  • Working knowledge of MS Office productivity software
  • Good understanding of mechanical principals is a plus
  • Preferred if candidate has 80-hour underground certification within the first 6 months of employment
  • Travel as required (25-50% at times) to support projects. Travel time is paid.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs to include possible work involving emergency call-out, extended hours and some out-of-town and overnight work
  • Willingness to undergo a thorough background and drug screening process
