Job summary

Eastern LLC, a multi-disciplined contractor, is hiring an Estimator (or Junior Estimator) to own bids for our paving division—asphalt paving, milling, sealcoating, striping, ADA compliance, and site work.

You will perform quantity takeoffs, price and submit proposals, and build historical cost data. Travel to job sites and collaboration with operations and sales are expected as you grow into broader estimating roles.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of estimating experience in paving, asphalt, construction, or related field, or strong math/learning willingness for junior track.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and drawings with accuracy and deadline awareness.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication for client-facing bid work.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from plans, specs, and site visits using manual measurements and takeoff software.
• Price and submit competitive, well-documented bids on deadlines.
• Conduct site walks to verify scope, access, drainage, and conditions.
• Source and manage pricing from material suppliers and subcontractors.
• Build and maintain historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy.
• Track bid pipeline, follow up on proposals, and report win/loss trends.
• Collaborate with Operations and Sales to align pricing with capacity and margin targets.

Estimator / Junior Estimator – Paving Division

Location

Fort Washington, PA (with travel to job sites across the region)

About the Role

Eastern LLC is a multi-disciplined contractor operating landscape, paving, and snow & ice divisions. We're hiring an Estimator (or Junior Estimator, depending on experience) to own bids and takeoffs for our paving division — asphalt paving, milling, sealcoating, striping, ADA compliance work, and related site work.

You'll perform quantity takeoffs both manually and using computer takeoff software, price and submit competitive proposals, and help build the historical cost data that sharpens our bidding over time. As you grow with the company, there's a real path to estimating across our landscaping and snow & ice divisions as well — a rare opportunity to build a broad, long-term estimating career inside one growing contractor rather than staying siloed in a single trade.

What You'll Do

• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from plans, specs, and site visits — using both manual measurement and takeoff software — for paving scopes including asphalt paving, milling, sealcoating, striping, ADA compliance work, and concrete flatwork
• Prepare, price, and submit competitive, well-documented bids and proposals on deadline
• Conduct site walks to verify scope, access, drainage, and existing conditions
• Source and manage pricing from material suppliers and subcontractors
• Build and maintain historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy over time
• Track the bid pipeline, follow up on outstanding proposals, and report on win/loss trends
• Partner with Operations and Sales to align pricing strategy with field capacity and margin targets

What You Bring

Required

• 1–5 years of estimating experience in paving, asphalt, construction, or a related trade — OR, for the Junior Estimator track, strong math skills, construction familiarity, and a genuine willingness to learn (no prior estimating experience required)
• Ability to read and accurately interpret plans, specs, and site drawings with strong attention to detail and comfort working against deadlines
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication for client-facing proposal work

Preferred

• Experience with estimating/takeoff software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Bluebeam) — we'll train the right person if you don't have this yet
• Familiarity with asphalt paving or related site work
