Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Jr. Critical Facilities Engineer to support a data center client in Sterling, VA. You will help maintain 100% uptime by handling electrical and mechanical systems, power distribution, and equipment upkeep.

The role requires 2–4 years in data center operations, familiarity with high and low voltage systems, UPS, PDU, generators, and cooling infrastructure. A military background is valued, along with relevant licenses and NFPA 70E knowledge.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of Data Center operations experience.
  • Strong knowledge of 25kV and 120/208/277/480V systems including UPS, PDU, transformer.
  • Experience with CRAH/CRAC, generators, and cooling plants.
  • NFPA 70E awareness and basic IT terminology.
  • Military background encouraged; valid facilities operation licenses preferred.
  • Infrared Thermography Level 1 is a plus.
  • CDCTP certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper power distribution within the facility and to racks.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair equipment promptly as needed.
  • Manage contractors and vendors; establish maintenance contracts.

Insight Global is looking for a Jr. Critical Facilities Engineers to support one if its Data Center Clients in Sterling, VA. The Facility Engineer on shift is responsible for the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment in support of mission-critical servers requiring 100% uptime. Responsibilities:
  • Ensure proper distribution of power within the facility and to equipment racks.
  • Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and prompt repair of equipment, as needed.
  • Manage contractors and vendors. Institute and maintain maintenance contracts for equipment.

Skills and Requirements
  • 2-4 years experience in a Data Center operations
  • Advanced knowledge of medium (25kV) and low (120/208 and 277/480) volt systems including UPS, PDU, transformer, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of generators, coolers/cooling plants, and electrical system
  • Advanced knowledge of CRAH/CRAC systems.
  • Able to apply basic computer knowledge and experience in order to facilitate the ticket process.
  • Military (especially Navy) backgrounds
  • License facilities operation trade in mechanical, electrical or HVAC in one or more areas
  • NFPA 70E knowledge
  • Infrared Thermography Level 1
  • Refrigeration/CFC certifications
  • CDCTP (Certified Data Center Technical Professional)
