Job summary

YMCA is seeking a Classroom Teacher to support young children in the Early Learning Center. The role centers on creating joyful, nourishing environments that foster growth, self-control, cooperation, and belonging within a caring classroom community.

Responsibilities include leading daily activities, documenting progress, and maintaining a safe space while collaborating with families and staff to support each child’s development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree plus 12 credit hours in child development or related field preferred; additional AA/BA progress described.
• A valid Florida Childcare Staff Credential is required.
• Excellent teaching, communication, and collaborative skills.
• Commitment to child development and readiness to work with families.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct developmentally appropriate activities; establish daily rhythm.
• Lead circle time, imaginative play, story, crafts, outdoor activities and special events.
• Maintain class environment, safety and cleanliness.
• Communicate with families through notes, meetings, and conferences.
• Prepare and submit progress reports and narrative year-end reflections.
• Coordinate planning, preparation, and shopping for supplies.
