Job summary

BAYOU ELECTRICAL SERVICES is seeking an experienced Industrial Journeyman Electrician to perform skilled electrical work in an industrial setting, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems and equipment.

The role requires knowledge of electrical systems, safety standards, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong NEC knowledge and proficiency with testing tools are essential, along with good communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a certified electrical apprenticeship program.
• TWIC Card required.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and maintain electrical wiring and control systems in industrial settings.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical systems.
• Read blueprints and schematics to install and repair equipment.
• Service motors, generators, transformers, and control systems.
• Follow lockout/tagout safety procedures and comply with regulations.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors and other trades.

KeyResponsibilities

• InstallElectricalSystems:Install,test,andmaintainelectricalwiring,fixtures,andcontrolsystems,adheringtoelectricalcodesandstandards.
• TroubleshootandRepair:Diagnoseandresolveelectricalmalfunctionsorsystemfailuresinatimelymannertominimizedowntime.
• PreventiveMaintenance:Performroutineinspectionsandmaintenancetoensurethefunctionalityofelectricalsystemsandpreventpotentialissues.
• ReadBlueprintsandSchematics:Interprettechnicaldrawings,blueprints,andelectricalschematicstoperforminstallationsandrepairs.
• WorkwithEquipment:Serviceandmaintainelectricalcomponentsinindustrialequipment,includingmotors,generators,transformers,andcontrolsystems.
• EnsureSafetyCompliance:Followallsafetyprotocols,includinglockout/tagout(LOTO)procedures,andensureelectricalsystemsmeetsafetyandregulatoryrequirements.
• CollaboratewithTeams:Workwithengineers,contractors,andothertradespeopletocompleteprojectsandresolvecomplexelectricalissues.

Qualifications

EducationandCertification

• Highschooldiplomaorequivalent.
• Completionofacertifiedelectricalapprenticeshipprogram.

Experience

• 3+yearsofexperienceasaJourneymenelectricianinanindustrialenvironment.
• Proficiencywithindustrialelectricalsystems,includinghigh-voltageequipment,PLCs(ProgrammableLogicControllers),andmotorcontrols.

SkillsandAbilities

• StrongknowledgeoftheNationalElectricalCode(NEC).
• Abilitytouseelectricaltestingtoolssuchasmultimeters,megohmmeters,andcircuitanalyzers.
• Skilledindiagnosingandrepairingcomplexelectricalissues.
• Proficiencyincabletermination,includingpreparing,splicing,andconnectingwirestopanels,switches,andotherequipmentwithprecisionandaccuracy.
• Proficiencyincablepulling,includingrunningandsecuringelectricalcablesthroughconduits,trays,andindustrialsystems.
• Physicalabilitytoliftheavyobjects,climbladders,andworkinconfinedspacesorelevatedareas.
• Strongcommunicationandteamworkskills.

WorkEnvironment
