Job summary

Comfort Systems USA Mid South is seeking a Journeyman Welder for commercial and industrial projects in the Birmingham area. You will perform welding and fabrication of piping systems and structural components, ensuring adherence to codes, specs, and safety standards.

The role requires 4+ years of welding experience, the ability to read blueprints, and proficiency in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW. OSHA 10 certification is preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of commercial or industrial welding experience.
  • Ability to pass required weld tests (X-ray quality preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding procedures.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install piping systems.

  • Follow all OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Coordinate with pipefitters, foremen, and supervisors on jobsite activities.

Position Summary

The Journeyman Welder is responsible for performing high‑quality welding and fabrication of piping systems and structural components for commercial and industrial mechanical projects. This role works independently or as part of a crew to ensure installations meet all codes, specifications, and company standards for safety and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform SMAW, GTAW (TIG), and GMAW welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping
