Job summary

General Motors in the United States is seeking a Journeyperson Tool and Die Maker to operate with minimal supervision, handling maintenance, repair, and setup of mechanical systems and CNC tools.

You will read blueprints, set up lathes, milling machines, grinders, and perform measurements with calipers and micrometers, while adhering to OSHA and GM safety procedures. This onsite role offers relocation and travel support as allowed, and includes an incentive program.

Qualifications

• At least six (6) years of related experience in a Mechanical trade or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in a Mechanical trade.
• Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includes comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check
• At least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and GM procedures.
• Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
• Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints for mechanical operation and assembly of conveyor systems and automation.
• Operate CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to shape parts.
• Plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies from blueprints.
• Verify finished parts with calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators for conformance.
