Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking 10 Journeyperson Riggers and Journeyperson 3/2/1 to support ship rigging, weight handling gear, and dry-docking operations. The team will fabricate, install, and repair rigging aboard ships, with shift options across 06:00–2:45pm and 3:00–11:00pm.

This is a dynamic shipyard role offering hands-on experience in heavy lifting, crane signaling, and vessel maintenance.

Qualifications

• Experience in rigging and weight handling on ships.
• Ability to operate hoists and signaling cranes.
• Familiarity with OSHA standards and shipboard safety.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and install rigging and weight handling gear on ships.
• Attach hoists and pulling gear to lift and move loads.
• Signal cranes and control movement of heavy equipment.
• Work in confined spaces and engine rooms.
• Splice ropes and use hand, electric and pneumatic tools.
