Job summary

George Mason University is seeking a Plumber II to perform skilled plumbing, irrigation, and gas system work at the Fairfax campus. The role requires proper certification, 4+ years of experience, and adherence to safety protocols.

The position includes an essential personnel designation and weather-related scheduling, with excellent benefits and opportunities for development. The Plumber II will install, maintain, and repair university plumbing systems, document work orders, and support on-site

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of vocational/technology courses preferred.
• DPOR Backflow Prevention Device Worker certification or ability to obtain it.
• Progressive experience in plumbing (generally 4+ years).
• Knowledge of plumbing codes and safety practices.
• Ability to use hand and power tools and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify, maintain, and repair plumbing, irrigation, and gas systems and equipment.
• Diagnose defects and repair piping systems and fixtures with high quality.
• Test and maintain pressure safety devices; perform preventive maintenance.
• Follow safety procedures and complete work orders on time.
• Maintain paperwork and time records; order materials as needed.
• Perform on-the-job training tasks to develop plumbing skills.
