Job summary

George Washington University seeks an experienced Plumber to support Facilities Planning, Construction and Management. The role involves day-to-day plumbing operations, preventive maintenance, and coordination with Zone Managers and stakeholders on schedules and inspections.

Ideal candidates have 1.5+ years in plumbing with strong knowledge of domestic hot water systems, safety standards, and building codes. On-site work, 7:00 am–4:00 pm, and on-call duties apply.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 1.5 years of relevant experience, or a relevant Bachelor's degree.
  • DC Journeyman Plumbing License preferred; reciprocity accepted.
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings and building codes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and administer preventive maintenance programs for facilities.
  • Conduct plumbing maintenance and repairs in commercial, residential and academic buildings.
  • Troubleshoot domestic hot water systems and inspect for quality control.
  • Coordinate inspections and due diligence with stakeholders.
  • Provide reports to the Facility Zone Manager and advise on project alternatives.
  • Schedule work orders and supervise contractor work as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and local codes.
  • Communicate best practices to maintenance staff.
