Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking a Journeyman Plumber for prefabrication projects in the Chandler or Phoenix, AZ area. The ideal candidate has a proven safety record and is willing to commit to a full-time schedule on-site.

Responsibilities include installing multiple plumbing systems, mentoring apprentices, and ensuring work conforms to codes, submittals, and contract documents. Training and career development are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe-work practices.
  • Ability to solve problems on job sites.
  • Ability to work well in a team and mentor apprentices.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of waste/vent, storm, domestic water, gas and process utilities piping.
  • Knowledge of copper, PVC, cast-iron, and other plumbing materials.
  • Receives direct supervision and performs technical responsibilities.
  • Coordinates own tasks within established procedures.
  • Contributes to a team under supervision with guidance from a senior professional.
  • Mentor apprentices and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Understand and implement lockout/tag-out procedures for safety.
  • Perform testing, inspection, and recording for rough-in installations per code.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in serviceable condition.
  • Use materials and resources conservatively to promote project success.
  • Participate in orientation of new partners on site.
  • Install all systems per code, specifications, and submittals.
  • Provide input to maintain current As-Built drawings.
  • Demonstrate understanding of McCarthy Safety Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience.
  • Pay rate increases $1.00 if licensed.

Position Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is looking for skilled Journeyman Plumbers for our prefabrication projects. The ideal candidate is local to the Chandler or Phoenix, AZ area.

McCarthy is looking for team members that have a proven commitment to safety and can be committed to a full-time schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of multiple Plumbing systems applications: Waste and Vent, Storm, Domestic Water, Compressed Air, Condensate Drain, Natural Gas, Process Utilities, Fixtures and Pumps.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of multiple Plumbing material applications: Steel/carbon pipe, Copper Pipe, PVC/PCV pipe, Poly Pipe applications, Stainless Steel pipe and Aluminum pipe.
  • Receives direct supervision and performs technical responsibilities.
  • Coordinates own tasks with a specific range of responsibilities under established procedures.
  • Contributes to a team under general supervision of an experienced professional or manager.
  • Skilled specialist that demonstrates reliable judgment in resolving issues and making recommendations.
  • Promote a positive learning environment in mentoring and directing of apprentices.
  • Understand and implement lockout/tag-out procedures for safe and secure task(s)
  • Perform testing, inspecting, and recording for all rough-in installations as required by building codes and project specifications.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment in serviceable condition.
  • Use materials and other resources conservatively to promote project success and profitability.
  • Participate in the orientation of new partners on your job site.
  • Install all systems and products per code, specifications, submittals, and contract documents.
  • Provide applicable input promptly to maintain current “As-Built” record drawings.
  • Demonstrates understanding of McCarthy Safety Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience.
  • $1.00 increase to base pay if licensed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial plumbing preferred
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment plumbing exam
  • Experience with copper, PVC and cast-iron installations
  • Experience with refrigerant piping and medical gas preferred
  • Med Gas Certification preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Ability to accurately layout building systems
  • Management and ability to train apprentice tradesmen
  • Ability to create a safe working environment, and understands OSHA regulations
  • Ability to take off and communicate tool and material requirements to the supervisor
  • Ability to set up and perform plumbing tests
  • Ability to identify potential issues during installation and elevate them to Foreman/Gen Foreman
  • Basic understanding of IPC and UPC building codes
  • Must have own hand tools
  • Must have reliable transportation to job-site
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well with others
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Pay rate is determined on current level of knowledge and experience
