Job description

Hunton Services, a division of the Hunton Group ( ) is seeking a versatile and skilled Journeyman Pipefitter/Welder to join our team. This role involves fabricating metal components, including installation, maintenance, and repair of parts and systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the proper construction of metal parts, as well as ensuring proper welding of components functions safely and efficiently. This is an on-site position located at Hunton Services at the Midvale Building in Houston, TX 77087.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine material and fabrication needs.
  • Operate various fabrication machinery such as saws, grinders, shears, and welding equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal components.
  • Measure and mark materials for accurate cutting and shaping.
  • Assemble metal parts using welding, bolting, or other fastening methods.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintain and operate fabrication tools and equipment, ensuring safety and functionality.
  • Assist in troubleshooting fabrication issues and provide solutions to improve production.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure that fabrication and welding tasks meet project requirements and deadlines.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in both fabrication techniques and welding procedures
  • Mig, Stick, and Tig welding experience required.
  • Experience with hand tools and machinery used in metal fabrication (e.g., saws, grinders, welding equipment).
  • Experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints for both fabrication and welding work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Work in shop/industrial environments with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
  • Comfortable working with welding components and systems in various settings.

Required Experience:
  • Experience in both pipefitting and welding fabrication work.
  • Welding Certification is a Plus.
  • Knowledge of industrial welding systems and components.
  • Forklift certified preferred but not required.
