Job summary

Swanson Group is seeking a Journey Millwright to maximize mill efficiency through preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of new machinery. This role collaborates with the Maintenance Director, lead millwright, electricians, production supervisors, and machine operators while following safety and PPE policies.

Responsibilities include PMs, repairing and aligning machinery, reading blueprints, welding/fabricating, and installing equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform welding and fabrication tasks as part of daily duties.
• Repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems and align machinery.
• Read blueprints and follow SOPs to install/modify equipment.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems in manufacturing environments.
• Identify metal compositions and use millwright tools.
• Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures for safety.
• Maintain excellent hand-eye coordination for precise work.
• Prioritize, organize, and make timely decisions on maintenance tasks.
• Communicate effectively with maintenance team and operators.
• Read and understand Job Hazard Analysis and safety training materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on machinery as scheduled.
• Repair, modify, and align machinery; troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Order replacement parts and document future work on the Work List.
• Install new machinery and follow blueprints/SOPs.
• Learn to operate machine centers and assist with pre-shift warm-up.
• Maintain clean and organized shop and parts area.
• Operate forklift, hoist, crane, drills, presses as needed.
• Weld and fabricate using arc/wire feed welders.
• Follow Safety-First approach per ACES guidelines.
• Assist with special projects and work in confined spaces as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
