Job summary

Smurfit WestRock in Battle Creek, MI is seeking Industrial Journeyman Millwrights to join our paper mill maintenance team. You will participate in safety programs, maintain mechanical systems, fabricate parts, and perform preventative maintenance.

The ideal candidate holds a Journeyman Millwright or Machinist card, can work overtime and shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and respond quickly to equipment breakdowns while upholding our high safety standards.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Millwright or Machinist card required.
• Safety program participation and adherence.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to work overtime and shift work when required.
• Able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

We are looking for Industrial Journeyman Millwrights!

The Opportunity

• Participates in the safety program, works to exceed all safety standards and requirements mandated by the mill and OSHA.
• Maintain mechanical components and perform machine alignment.
• Fabricate parts & equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance duties on facility equipment.

• Communicate effectively across departments, excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to respond to emergency machine breakdowns in a timely manner and completes assigned task correctly and within the allotted time.
• Must have an outstanding safety record and engage in safety activities across the mill.
• Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain motors, drives, couplings, bearings, seals, etc.

What You Need To Succeed

• Excellent attention to detail and high standards for quality and precision of work.
• Must be able to work alone with minimum supervision in a team concept.
• Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
• Willingness to work shift work when necessary.
• Able to perform at heights, in confined space, ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry up to 50 lbs.
