Job summary

Portland General Electric in Wilsonville, Oregon is seeking a Journeyman Meterman to install, test, repair, and maintain all types and voltages of alternating current meters. You will operate meter testing equipment, refurbish meters, and provide software interface with meters and database support.

This role requires a Journeyman meterman card, a valid driving medical card, a driver’s license, and knowledge of safety regulations.

Qualifications

Journeyman meterman card required.
Valid driving medical card required.
Driver's license required.
Knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA required.
Physically and mentally able to perform the job safely.
Able to get along with customers and general public.

Responsibilities

Work safely.
Install, test, repair and maintain all types, sizes and voltages of alternating current meters.
Perform meter shop activities including operating test equipment, refurbishing meters, programming, software interface with electronic meters and meter database support.
Maintain the meter stock.
Wire up and install current, potential, and special metering jobs, and test and repair power and demand meters.
Do distribution testing as needed, including investigating customers' complaints regarding voltage fluctuations, high bills etc.
Meet with customers and other members of the public and discuss matters such as meter accuracy and energy usage information.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Will be required to live within reasonable distance of headquarters.
