Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a skilled Journeyman Lineman to construct, maintain and repair overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines to serve customers in Iowa. The role requires strong mechanical skills, teamwork, and the ability to work irregular hours, including storm duty.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and an IBEW-equivalent apprenticeship with a Journeyman certificate, plus 4+ years in line construction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Equivalent to four-year formal apprenticeship training such as the I.B.E.W. Lineman Apprenticeship Course.
• 4 or more years experience in line construction, operation, maintenance work or equivalent.
• Journeyman lineman certificate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Install, tension, tie in and remove conductors.
• Install, frame and climb poles and structures.
• Operate basket trucks, digger trucks, trenchers, backhoes and other construction equipment.
• Restore electric service after weather events or equipment failure in a safe and prompt manner.
• Install and maintain street and security lighting equipment.
• Operate and maintain hydraulic tools and systems.
• Install underground electrical equipment including cable and switchgear.
• Follow safety and construction standards.
