Job Title:

Overhead Distribution A Lineperson

Job description summary:

A line worker installs and fixes overhead distribution and transmission systems, including poles, cables, and electrical systems. Line Workers also fit, repair, and maintain underground cables and electrical equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Setting of poles and anchors. Stringing overhead wire.
  • Installing transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
  • Performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead line work while complying with all Safety and Health rules.
  • Troubleshooting issues with primary and secondary systems.
  • Replacing cutout fuses and clearing faulted circuits and systems.
  • Ensuring daily testing and inspection of tools and equipment to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Reporting all injuries, near misses, and safety concerns to the Foreperson.
  • Other duties related to overhead power supply installation.
  • Additional duties as requested by Supervisors.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment.
  • Problem-solving skills for unanticipated situations.
  • Experience working with energized high voltage systems.
  • Ability to climb structures and possess necessary tools.
  • Ability to operate and service required tools and equipment (e.g., bucket truck, digger derrick, tensioners, puller, etc.).
Education and Experience:
  • At least 4 years of electrical linework experience.
  • Ability to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and certifications.
Traveling Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
Driver License:
  • Valid Driver’s License preferred; can be discussed during interview.
  • Valid CDL preferred or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
Safety:
  • Must have sufficient eyesight, physical endurance, and ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear PPE, traverse terrain, and perform job duties for 8-10 hours.
  • Effective communication skills.
Pre-Screen:
  • Pre-employment drug screen, background, and MVR checks may be required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Occasional sitting, kneeling, crawling.
  • Frequent stooping, squatting, climbing, manual dexterity.
  • Continuous standing, walking, reaching, lifting, balancing, etc.
