Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Successful completion of apprentice lineman training with B-200 written test (80%+).
• 4+ years line work experience for external candidates.
• Must have a valid CDL A driver's license.
• Residence within 35 roadway miles / 40 mile radius of the site.
• Ability to climb and work at heights.
• Ability to communicate courteously with employees, customers and the public.
• Must pass AEP Pre-Assessment Evaluation.
• Must pursue qualifications for next higher progression if needed.

Responsibilities

• Climbs poles or rides in bucket to install or repair lines and hardware.
• Installs and repairs underground facilities and pedestal equipment.
• Installs pole hardware and transformers, lightning arresters, switches and insulators.
• Covers energized lines with rubber goods for safe handling.
• Uses insulated poles and gloves for energized work.
• Patrols power lines and services streetlight systems as needed.
