Job summary

American Electric Power in Oklahoma seeks skilled line workers to assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of transmission and distribution facilities. You will drive line trucks, operate equipment, and perform energized line work with safety protocols.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, one year of distribution power line experience (or equivalent schooling and internship), and a valid CDL A license. Overtime, on-call, and travel may be necessary.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line experience, or equivalent training.
• CDL A driver's license required.
• Must live within 35 mile radius/40 roadway miles of the service location.

Responsibilities

• Open and close switches and install grounding devices.
• Climb poles and ride in bucket to install/repair lines.
• Install and repair underground facilities such as cable, transformers, pedestals.
• Install pole hardware and associated equipment using hand tools and devices.
• Work with energized lines using hot sticks and PPE.
• Perform similar or lighter line work as assigned.
