UniSource Energy Services (UES) seeks a Journeyman Lineman for its Kingman, AZ location. Compensation: $57.97/hr, double time for all overtime, relocation assistance available. The position includes a full benefit package, including a 401(k) with a 6% non-discretionary company contribution and a 4.5% dollar-for-dollar matching contribution.
Position Description
An employee who is a Journeyman and performs all phases of construction, operation, and maintenance of transmission and distribution overhead and underground lines in accordance with UES standards and applicable rules.
Position-Related Responsibilities
- Guide the work of apprentices and helpers.
- Assemble wood-pole electrical lines and components.
- Install underground conduit systems.
- Install URD systems.
- Connect all types of transformers and other equipment on overhead and underground lines.
- Drive and operate equipment to accomplish daily work and possess a Class A CDL operator’s license.
- Perform switching and install “hold tags” on electrical systems as required.
- Maintain awareness of environmental considerations that impact the company.
- Perform emergency service restoration.
- Perform assigned work safely and efficiently in accordance with UES practices and procedures.
- Provide services to affiliates of the company subject to the UES Energy Code of Conduct and related Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Completion of an accredited Lineman/Cable Apprenticeship program or equivalent.
- Commercial driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of UES policies and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of utility distribution and transmission systems, both overhead and underground.
- Knowledgeable about electric utility services, products, service requirements, and construction standards.
- Knowledgeable about codes, ordinances, franchise agreements, and Blue Stake laws.
- Qualification to climb poles, operate aerial lifts, and work on energized equipment at any voltage level in conformance with training and safe work practices.
- Ability to use technical knowledge of UES’s distribution system and policies to solve problems creatively.
