Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a Journeyman Lineman to join our on-site team in Alaska.

You will perform essential construction work on our diesel generation and distribution systems and respond to outages to restore power quickly for our Members. The role requires strong safety practices, a minimum of five years in electrical power distribution, a State of Alaska Journeyman Power Lineman certification, and completion of a lineman apprenticeship.

At Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC), we power communities across some of the most remote parts of Alaska. AVEC is a unique electric generation and distribution cooperative serving 58 Alaskan communities. With 90 full time employees and 80 part-time employees, we operate and maintain 46 power plants, 32 wind turbines, and 500 miles of distribution lines to energize more than 11,400 meters.

To excel as a Journeyman Lineman at Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, you should possess a robust skill set and relevant qualifications that align with our operational needs. A minimum of five years' experience in electrical power distribution is essential, with a preference for candidates who have worked in rural Alaska due to the unique challenges of the environment. You must hold a Journeyman Power Lineman certification from the State of Alaska and have successfully completed a lineman apprenticeship program, demonstrating both your technical prowess and commitment to the craft. Additionally, a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a valid driver's license.
