Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking a journey-level Insulator for maintenance work in the Hopewell, VA area, performing insulation on boilers, pipes, tanks and refrigeration units to reduce heat loss and noise.

This role requires at least 3 years of insulator experience, local residency, and ability to pass tests and screenings. Final compensation is based on qualifications and experience, with full benefits available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience as insulator.
• Must be a local candidate.
• 40+ hours weekly.
• Must be able to pass craft test.
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Wires prefabricated fiberglass around steam and hot water piping; applies mastic or cement to insulation to obtain a smooth finish and covers piping with cloth.
• Fits thermo-block and magnesia-block insulation around boilers, evaporators and turbines; wires insulation on machinery and staples wire netting over insulation.
• Installs fiber glass or spun glass on ventilation systems to deaden sound and prevent vibration.
