Job Summary

The Journeyman Electrician II performs electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs on commercial and industrial projects under the direction of a Foreman or General Foreman. This position requires a solid understanding of electrical theory, code compliance, and field installation techniques.The Journeyman II is an experienced in the trade and will, model professionalism, craftmanship, and coordinating daily work and maintaining adherence to Kearney Electric's Pathways to Excellence mission and core values of Trust, Team, Grit, and Growth.

Essential Functions
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment for commercial and industrial projects according to NEC and local codes under some supervision.
  • Coordinate installation work with other trades and field personnel to ensure smooth workflow and productivity.
  • Provide hands-on, direction, and training to assigned apprentices, helpers, and Journeymen I while fostering skill development and accountability.
  • Plan and lay out work based on blueprints, schematics, and project documentation under some supervision.
  • Ensure installations meet Kearney Electric's standards for safety, quality, and craftsmanship.
  • Order and manage materials, tools, and equipment necessary for assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring adherence to all company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Identify and report field issues or conflicts promptly to the Foreman or General Foreman.
  • Provide constructive feedback to leadership regarding crew performance and project progress.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation, material logs, and field reports.
  • Conduct and participate in weekly safety meetings, reinforcing Kearney's safety-first culture.
  • Exhibit consistent attendance, reliability, and professionalism on all job sites.
  • Set the pace for assigned crews and serve as a role model for work ethic, attitude, and quality.
Job Requirements
  • Must be able to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions typical to Arizona (heat, cold, dust, wind).
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and structures, and work at heights exceeding 30 feet.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier with assistance.
  • Requires manual dexterity to handle tools, materials, and electrical components.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or walk for extended periods.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations without exception.
  • Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as dictated by site safety requirements (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, high-visibility clothing, etc.).
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all crew members.
  • Must communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Ability to complete daily reports, timecards, and material requests accurately.
  • Expected to model professionalism, teamwork, and integrity at all times.
  • Must adhere to company policies, including attendance, conduct, and ethics standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical theory, wiring methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with commercial and industrial installation practices, including conduit bending, terminations, and power distribution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small crews (up to 5 employees) while maintaining productivity and quality control.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of electrical field experience or Journeyman License.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical systems, NEC code, and standard troubleshooting procedures.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Proficiency with electrical test instruments and power tools common to the trade with limited supervision.
  • Experience Working on commercial and industrial projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical theory, wiring methods, materials, and equipment.
Licenses / Special Training
  • Journeyman Electrician Licenses (or equivalent experience and knowledge) required.
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification required; OSHA 30-Hour .
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
