  • Oversee new installation for the building automated control system.
  • Submit documentation of completed maintenance requests to the supervisor; identify and recommend scheduling third party repair of equipment when necessary.
  • Maintains safe, effective and efficient working order per manufacturers specs and department standards.

Job Requirements
Under general supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs UMMS Building Automation System components, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Performs preventative maintenance, repair and replacement work on all HVAC systems, specially automated system, and components to ensure proper, safe operation and adherence to The Joint Commission requirements and safety standards, in accordance with departmental operating procedures and manufacturers operating and repair manuals.

Performs preventative maintenance, repair and replacement work on all HVAC systems, specially automated system, and components to ensure proper, safe operation and adherence to The Joint Commission requirements and safety standards, in accordance with departmental operating procedures and manufacturers operating and repair manuals.

Primary Responsibilities
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed by personnel.

  • Performs maintenance, repair, modification, and troubleshooting of building control systems to assure reliable and efficient operation.
  • Manage automated systems for in a 24-hour 7-day operation using expertise in major building mechanical, electrical and centralized building control.
  • Oversee new installation for the building automated control system.
  • Submits documentation of completed maintenance requests to the supervisor. Identifies and recommends scheduling third party repair of equipment when necessary
  • Maintains in a safe, effective and efficient working order in accordance with manufacturers specifications and department standards: humidifiers, de-humidifiers, water coolers, freezers, cooling towers, pneumatic control systems, chillers, associated pumps and equipment, water valves, changeover valves, steam and electric heaters.
  • Performs limited pipe-fitting and coil repair in the processing of performing HVAC repairs.
  • Repairs and replaces electrical controls associated with compressors, refrigerators, ice makers and air conditioning.
  • Performs soft soldering, silver soldering and brazing using oxygen/acetylene equipment as needed in performing HVAC repair work. Perform all duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Education & Experience - Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Vocation or trade school preferred.
  • Journeyman Certification required.
  • Four years’ experience performing installing and maintaining industrial and/or commercial refrigeration and/or air-conditioning systems is required.
  • Experience in centralized building control systems and the maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and other building systems. Experience working in a hospital environment is preferred.
