Job summary

TEPCON Construction in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Journeyman specializing in framing and drywall to join our field team. This full-time, in-person role requires hands-on work on busy construction sites and the ability to work nights or days as needed to meet deadlines.

You will perform framing and drywall tasks, hang, tape, texture, and paint as part of a larger occupied-environment project portfolio. OSHA 10 certification and valid AZ driver’s license are preferred, and you must have your own tools

Qualifications

• Framing and drywall: 2 years.
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the carpentry trade.
• Ability to follow safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe, clean site.
• Must read blueprints and measure accurately.
• Able to exert heavy physical effort up to 80 pounds.
• Background check and drug test required.
• Able to work nights and days as needed.

Responsibilities

• Interact with busy facility managers and engineers with concise communication.
• Work flexible hours to accommodate client needs.
• Organize and prioritize work and job sites in a fast-paced environment.
• Follow through with inspectors and subcontractors to close projects satisfactorily and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Good communication skills – This person will interact with busy facility managers/engineers and will need to communicate concisely.
• Ability to work flexible hours – We are often required to work off hours to accommodate our clients.
• Organizational / Prioritization skills – This is a fast-paced environment, this individual must be able to organize and prioritize work and job site.
• Ability to follow thru – This person may be required to close-out a project(s) and must be able to follow thru with inspectors and subcontractors to close the project to the clients’ satisfaction and in a timely manner.

Skills:

• Journeyman Carpenter with drywall, framing, and painting experience
• Painter (Brush/Roll/Masking/Prep)
• Drywall (Hang/Tape/Texture)

Required Knowledge and Technical Abilities:

• Framing and drywall: 2 years
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the carpentry trade
• Ability to follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
• Must be able to measure accurately and calculate dimensions, as well as read blueprints
• Ability to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 80 pounds

Skills and Experience:

• Must have experience in commercial, occupied environments
• Ability to work in occupied, professional environments
• Maintain records, document actions and present written progress reports
• Cleans equipment, shop area, and work site area
• Must be able to pass background check and drug test as this is a safety sensitive position
• Must be able to work nights and days

Basic Expertise/Knowledge of the following fields is a plus

• Electrical
• HVAC
• Plumbing
• Flooring (carpet/VCT/Tile)

Required Licenses/ Certifications/ Equipment:

• OSHA 10
• AZ Driver’s License
• Must have own tools and truck
