Job summary

Qualifications

• The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and related field experience.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions with effective communication to supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.
• Experience working on construction sites with varying outdoor weather conditions and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts and pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check fluid levels and lubrication; perform routine equipment maintenance.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation of construction equipment and tools.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of errors or defects.
