Job summary

The Delaware River Port Authority is seeking an Equipment Electrician to maintain equipment assigned to the Equipment Department. This journeyman position requires independent work after orientation, with duties that may include other tasks in emergencies.

Must pass a proficiency exam and background check; a valid driver’s license is required. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, motor inspections, battery set maintenance, high-voltage cable work, and on-car wiring modifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and trade/technical electrician training; 10 years journeyman experience can substitute.
• 4 years experience as an electrician maintaining and repairing electric rail transit vehicles or similar equipment.
• Must pass an examination testing electrical theory.
• Knowledge of industrial hand/power tools, measuring devices and material handling equipment.
• Experience using cleaning, painting, and heating equipment where required.
• Current valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance and inspections of electrical equipment.
• Conducts traction motor inspections and maintenance, including motor cleaning and insulation tests.
• Inspects and maintains 37.5vdc battery sets and auxiliary power supplies.
• Replaces 600VDC power cables, grounds, and fuses as needed.
• Performs on-car modifications including point-to-point wiring.
• Maintain safe work environment through training and PPE compliance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
