Job summary

Milwaukee County is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to inspect, service, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems, and to install new or replacement components as needed. The role requires WI residency, a valid WI license, and experience as a Journeyman Electrician with strong safety knowledge.

Position in Facilities Management, full-time at $46.50/hr with 24/7 emergency coverage on a rotating basis. Expect heavy collaboration with multiple trades and adherence to work orders and codes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• State or Federal Electrician Apprenticeship completion certificate at time of hire.
• State of Wisconsin Journeyman Electrician OR Master Electrician License at time of hire.
• Applicants must successfully undergo a criminal history background check to establish security clearance for Milwaukee County facilities.

Responsibilities

• Electrical inspection & testing: Complete needed inspection & testing of all electrical system assets and manage records.
• Electrical preventative maintenance, service & repair: Respond to and complete needed preventative maintenance, service & repair on all electrical system assets.
• Emergency/call-in response: Provide 24/7 emergency response on a rotating call-in basis.
• Contractor & capital project assistance: Support outside contractors on department and capital improvement projects with supervision and power needs.
• New installations and replacements: Complete needed new installations and planned replacements managed through the work order system.
• Interact with other trade disciplines to accomplish department objectives and goals.
• Interact with the Building Automation System and other PC based control systems.
• Use electronic means to manage time reporting, continuing education and training, communication, and work orders.
• Other duties as assigned.
