Job summary

Allen County Government in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join our Maintenance team. You will maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve commercial electrical systems across county facilities, including generators, switchgear, and building controls.

You will read blueprints, plan projects, estimate materials, and coordinate with other trades while following safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and state-accredited electrical apprenticeship.
• Experience with commercial/industrial electrical installations, maintenance, and repair.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and national electrical codes.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial electrical systems and equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Plan projects, estimate materials, and coordinate with other skilled trades and County departments.
• Maintain accurate work orders and maintenance records using CMMS.
• Follow electrical codes and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout.
• Assist with after-hours emergencies and participate in on-call rotation.
