Job summary

Generator Supercenter, Inc. in Wheeling, IL is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to wire, install and maintain standby generator systems for residential and light commercial customers.

You will work with our installation and service teams to deliver safe, code-compliant installations and diagnostics while reading blueprints and ensuring quality workmanship. The role requires a Journeyman license, strong NEC knowledge, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Journeyman Electrician license or Residential Wireman license.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of residential or commercial electrical experience.
• Strong knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code).
• Ability to read electrical drawings and blueprints.
• AC and DC electrical experience preferred.
• Comfortable with conduit benders and test meters.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Pull wire, bend and install conduit, and wire electrical devices and control panels.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
• Install electrical components for generator systems including ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches).
• Perform load testing, electrical diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Assist in preparing generator sites, including trenching, piping, and setting mechanical components.
• Conduct AC and DC electrical work for power generation systems.
• Use electrical measurement and testing equipment proficiently and safely.
• Ensure all installations meet local and national electrical codes.
• Promote a safe and positive work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
