Job summary

Neenah Foundry Company is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician to keep the facility running by wiring, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems across the foundry.

You will read blueprints, troubleshoot AC/DC circuits, and service motors, transformers, control panels, and PLCs while upholding safety standards and teamwork to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years’ experience as a Journeyman Electrician in an industrial maintenance setting.
• Experience in foundry environments preferred.
• Own tools up to ½” drive and willingness to work 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Work from prints and instructions for repairs, install and inspect electrical systems.
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain control circuits for motors, PLCs and related devices.
• Read schematics and diagrams to diagnose electrical problems and implement fixes.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, UFC and safety standards.
• Communicate repairs and equipment needs to team members and supervisors.

Description

Electricians at Neenah Foundry keep the lights on, the machines running and the current flowing so we can continue to produce our award-winning castings. As an Industrial Electrician, you’ll work throughout the Foundry, laying and connecting power cables and working on AC/DC circuits and ungrounded systems. You’ll troubleshoot, repair and maintain motors, transformers, control panels, PLC’s and all other electrical equipment using the appropriate hand tools.

Your ability to read blueprints and diagrams will help you troubleshoot machinery and electrical systems and critical thinking will help you anticipate problems. Your knowledge of safety codes and refusal to cut corners while making repairs will keep you and your co-workers safe. Finally, your communication skills will be used to explain repairs, advocate for new equipment or procedures and share your knowledge. So, do you have the ‘power’ to keep the Foundry running?

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Work from prints, diagrams, specifications and instructions covering emergency and scheduled repairs; as well as demolition, installation, testing and inspection of work to be done on electrical systems.
• Install system components and wiring in compliance with the NEC, NESC, NFPA and the UFC. Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical control circuits for motors, PLC hardware and software and control devices for various electrical devices. Test, inspect, clean, repair, dismantle, adjust, replace, assemble and maintain all manual or automatic AC and DC systems, electrical equipment, transformers, switch gear, control panels, regulators, distribution systems, generation systems and various other electrical components. This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all of the "essential functions" for purposes of the ADA. Expected Areas of Competence (i.e. KSAs)
• Computers and Electronics— Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
• Mechanical— Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Mathematics— Knowledge of basic math.
• Design— Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in electrical equipment.
• Production and Processing— Willing to develop knowledge of industry, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Repairing— Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. Ability to identify the tools and equipment required to complete a repair.
• Operation Monitoring— Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Troubleshooting— Determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
• Critical Thinking— Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Equipment Maintenance— Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Equipment Selection— Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
• Complex Problem Solving— Identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
• Judgment and Decision Making— Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
• Problem Sensitivity— Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
• Oral Comprehension— Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
• Flexibility of Closure — Ability to identify or detect a known pattern (a figure, object, word, or sound) that is hidden in other distracting material.

Education/ Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in an industrial maintenance environment as a Journeyman level Electrician.
• Will consider ten (10) years’ previous experience as an industrial electrician in lieu of journeyman’s card.
• Must have their own tools up to ½” drive
• Previous industrial electrician experience in a foundry preferred.
• Must have experience in pneumatics, hydraulics and conveyor systems. Experience in automatic molding and core making machines a plus
• Must be able/ willing to work weekends. Current openings are on3 rd shift.

Travel Requirements

• Minimal, less than 5%.

Pay Rate:

• Rate of Pay - $37.50/hr.
• Additional $1.00 after probation is completed.
• 2 nd shift premium: $1.50
