Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Commercial Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial buildings and facilities. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and safety procedures, with a proven ability to work independently or lead small teams of apprentices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in commercial buildings (e.g., offices, retail stores, schools, warehouses).
- Bend and install electrical conduit (EMT, RMC, PVC) using hand and hydraulic benders.
- Run and secure conduit systems to support wiring plans and layouts.
- Interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Ensure work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local building codes, and company standards.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for repair.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools.
- Install circuit breakers, panels, lighting systems, switches, outlets, and other electrical components.
- Collaborate with contractors, construction crews, and project managers to complete installations on time and within budget.
- May oversee and provide guidance to Electrician Apprentices, ensuring proper techniques, safety practices, and code compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on electrical experience in commercial environments.
- Proficient in bending pipes and running various types of conduits.
- Solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing instruments.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and perform tasks requiring standing, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
