Job summary

TISTA Science and Technology Corporation is seeking a Journeyman Electrical Technician for 100% onsite work at the Philadelphia IT Center (PITC). The role involves maintaining critical electrical infrastructure and ensuring power systems are reliable for data center operations.

The candidate should hold a PA Journeyman Electrician license, City of Philadelphia electrical contractor license, and OSHA/NFPA 70E training.

Qualifications

• Active Journeyman Electrician License in PA.
• Proper PPE per NFPA 70E.
• Must adhere to VA safety standards/requirements.
• Evenings and weekends work may be required.
• Able to lift and/or move objects weighing 50 lbs. or more.
• Able to climb and balance (stairs, ladders, scaffolds).
• Able to work under raised floors and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical infrastructure at the Philadelphia Information Technology Center (PITC), including utility feeds, emergency power, auto-transfer and parallel switchgear, large UPS systems, critical load panels, step-down transformers, PDU, RPP.
• Install new power whips or remove vacated whips without impacting production.
• Verify new equipment complies with code and VA contract specifications.
• Perform regular inspections of electrical equipment.
• Create/update/maintain documentation, such as panel schedules.
• Ensure redundant A/B power supports every IT cabinet/rack.
• Capture live readings via displays, clamps, etc.

Responsibilities

• Support all electrical infrastructure directly associated with the Philadelphia Information Technology Center (PITC) including but not limited to:
  • Utility feeds to the data center.
  • Emergency power (generators).
  • Auto‑transfer and parallel switchgear.
  • Large UPS systems.
  • Critical load panels.
  • Step‑down transformers.
  • Power distribution units (PDU).
  • Remote Power Panel units (RPP).
• Install new power whips or remove vacated whips without impact to production.
• Verify new equipment is in accordance with code and as specified in the VA contract.
• Perform regular inspections of electrical equipment.
• Create/update/maintain documentation, such as panel schedules.
• Ensure A/B (redundant) power supports every IT cabinet/rack.
• Capture live readings via various mechanisms (displays, clamps, etc.).

Qualifications

• Active Journeyman Electrician License in the state of Pennsylvania or equivalent.
• Must have proper PPE, as deemed appropriate by NFPA 70E, for the task being performed (flame resistant, Arc Flash Hazard Risk, etc.).
• Must adhere to all VA safety standards/requirements.
• Position will require occasional work to be performed in evenings and weekends.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Must be able to lift and/or move objects weighing 50 lbs. or more unassisted.
• Must be able to climb and balance (stairs, ladders, scaffolds, etc.).
• Must be able to work under raised floors.
• Must be able to work in confined space, such as electrical vaults.

Education

• Must have Active Electrical Contractor's License from the City of Philadelphia.
• OSHA 10 and/or 30‑hour Safety training certifications.
• NFPA 70E Arc Flash Training.

Clearance

• The ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation.

Location

• Philadelphia, PA (100% Onsite).
• Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM EST).
