Job summary

GLX Technologies is seeking a Journeyman Electrician for our West Texas - Pecos operations. This fast-paced role requires installing and maintaining electrical systems, PLCs, and instrumentation, with 50–60 hours per week and a 2:1 rotation or Monday–Friday schedule preferred.

Candidates should have 3–5+ years of industrial experience, strong knowledge of NEC/OSHA standards, and the ability to read schematics and work under varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in industrial electrical installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs, industrial controls, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with 480V systems, 3-phase power, and control circuits.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA electrical safety standards.
  • Competence with Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out processes.
  • Ability to use electrical testing tools and equipment.
  • Prior experience supervising crews or working with subcontractors is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install electrical circuits and equipment, including panels, switches, protective devices, conduits, transformers, and motors.
  • Install and maintain PLCs, 120V control circuits, 480V power, and electronic controls using electrical drawings and test instruments (e.g., ammeter, voltmeter).
  • Fabricate, install, and run conduit; perform 3-phase work, motor terminations, control/instrument troubleshooting, and panel wiring.
  • Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, feeders, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
  • Test and install electrical motors, generators, and pneumatic control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and industrial equipment, including motors, starters, relays, solid‑state circuitry, AC/DC drives, and PLCs.
  • Interpret and work from schematics, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and code specifications.
  • Test electrical/electronic components for continuity, resistance, voltage, and current.
  • Calibrate and maintain industrial instrumentation and related devices.
  • Operate mobile equipment (forklift, man lift, trencher) safely and in compliance with facility guidelines.
  • Apply Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out procedures to ensure safe work environments.
  • Supervise and lead crews and, on occasion, oversee contractors.
  • Collaborate with other personnel to resolve interdisciplinary issues beyond electrical and automation scope.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

We are currently seeking a Journeyman Electrician for our operations in West Texas - Pecos. We prefer local candidates but will consider electricians willing to work on a 2:1 rotation or Monday-to-Friday schedule. You can expect at least 50-60 hours of work per week. This is a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be able to handle the weather conditions in West Texas.

Functions and Responsibilities

Required Experience and Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of experience in industrial electrical installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs, industrial controls, and instrumentation
  • Experience with 480V systems, 3-phase power, and control circuits
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA electrical safety standards
  • Competence with Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out processes
  • Ability to use electrical testing tools and equipment
  • Prior experience supervising crews or working with subcontractors is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
  • Certifications in electrical safety, instrumentation, or automation (preferred but not required)
