Job summary

HM Cragg, a 60-year industry leader in critical backup power systems, seeks a Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems for networks, utilities and infrastructure across the region.

This role includes travel within a 6-hour radius with up to 75% travel, overtime opportunities, company-provided tools and vehicle, and a clear career path in a growing employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• Active Minnesota Journeyman Electrician license
• Strong knowledge of DC power equipment in telecom, switchgear and UPS
• Knowledge of generators, transfer switches and distribution equipment
• Commitment to safety, DOT/HAZMAT requirements and policy adherence

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems
• Install and replace backup generator systems
• Determine modifications when obstructions arise during installation
• Communicate with Electrical Manager/Master Electrician and other departments
• Work from wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions
• Proficient use of standard electrician's tools and testing instruments
• Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities:

• Perform skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
• Perform installations and replacements of backup generator systems.
• Determine modifications required when obstructions are met while installing electrical systems.
• Develops strong line of communication with Electrical Manager/Master Electrician and within all departments utilizing electrical service.
• Ability to work from wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, blueprints, and/or verbal instructions.
• Proficient in the use of standard electrician's tools and measuring/testing instruments.
• Perform other duties and assignments as necessary.

Requirements:

• Active Journeyman Electrician license in Minnesota.
• Strong knowledge of DC power equipment, specifically in telecommunications, switchgear & control, and UPS industries.
• Strong knowledge of generators, transfer switches, and distribution equipment.
• Proactively stays up to date on safety training, compliance, and knowledge of HAZ MAT and DOT requirements.
• Adheres to company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and Safety Policy.

Travel Expectations:

• Get the chance to work on diverse projects across the region without extensive long-haul travel. Most job sites are within a 6-hour driving radius.
• Travel can be up to 75%, but you'll typically be home every weekend.
• All travel expenses are covered, including hotel accommodations, per diem, company vehicle, and fuel card.
• Ideal for electricians who enjoy being in the field, seeing new locations, and earning plenty of overtime while maintaining work-life balance.

Other Required Qualifications:

• Ability to work at various heights.
• Ability to lift items greater than 25lbs (and up to 150 lbs.) repetitively on a regular basis.
• Ability to maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must pass a physical exam, background check and pre-employment drug screening.
