Job Description

Job Summary: Performs on-site or in-house installation, servicing, and/or repair of equipment. This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, including troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming; documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Installation of electrical components of transportation systems, including:
  • Intelligent transportation systems (ITS)
  • Traffic signals
  • Roadway Lighting Systems
  • Install electrical and data conductors.
  • Install conduit and pull boxes.
  • Install poles and foundations.
  • Install component and system grounding and surge protection.
  • Train and provide technical support to less experienced electricians.
  • Act in a supervisory role when needed.
  • Respond to corrective maintenance requests within the contract time frame.
  • Restore equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
  • Complete reports, logs, and perform shift-to-shift communications following policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with technical team on advanced and intermittent technical issues.
  • Field test units or components.
  • Required Skills and Experience:

    • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or a combination of training and work experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
    • Journeyman Electrician Certification/Card or higher required.
    • IMSA Level II Traffic Signal Technician certification is a plus.

    Additional skills include the ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a CDL Class A or B license.

    Other Requirements:

    • Travel required.
    • Ability to work any shift, including weekends or overtime.
    • Physical ability to stand, sit, handle, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, walk, climb, and balance.
    • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
    • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
    • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, weather conditions, traffic, high places, fumes, airborne particles, electrical shock, and confined spaces.
