Job summary

Prism Electric, based in Garland, TX, is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The role involves assembling, installing, maintaining and testing electrical systems in commercial settings, with emphasis on reading blueprints and following job specifications.

You will work from descriptions and blueprints, demonstrate reliability and punctuality, and collaborate with other craftsmen to complete projects on time. Heavy physical work and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Valid Journeyman Electrician license in TX or OK.
• Valid State Driver’s License.
• Reliable transportation.
• Good attendance and punctuality.
• Self-motivated and able to work from descriptions and blueprints.
• Experience running electrical conduit with precision.
• Must have layout capabilities.
• Positive attitude and ability to work with other craftsmen.
• Hard working with drive to complete tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain and test electrical equipment and wiring in commercial settings.

• Operate only trained/certified equipment; follow safety protocols.
• Set up and operate tools: hydraulic benders, threaders, pullers, cable vacuum.

• Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings.
• Secure and lock up equipment after use.

Journeyman Electrician – Prism Electric

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial settings.
• Prepare work area for installation of equipment.
• Install or help install electrical components.
• Connect wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
• Operate equipment only if trained and certified to operate. (Note: Powder activated tools, and JLG lifts and other operations that may require certification and training before operating).
• Sets up and operate tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers and cable vacuum systems.
• Read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
• Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans.
• Secure and lock up equipment after use.

Requirements

• Valid Journeyman Electrician license in the state of Texas or Oklahoma
• Valid State Driver’s License
• Reliable transportation
• Good attendance and punctuality required
• Must be self-motivated and willing to work from descriptions and blue prints
• Experience and proficiency running electrical conduit with precision expertise
• Must have layout capabilities
• Must have a good attitude and be willing to work with other craftsmen
• Must be hard working and have the drive and determination to complete the task at hand
• Must be dependable and willing to complete the project at hand from start to finish

The job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses always), respirator when required. Able to work 8 -10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects more than 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required. Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
